By Michael Robak, Chair, LIT-SIS Strategic Planning Committee
(Committee Members: Patricia Barbone, Will Monroe, Susan Azyndar, Teresa Myers, and Victor Chavez)
The LIT-SIS Strategic Planning Committee is kicking off the journey to our 2025–2027 Strategic Plan with a fresh and exciting approach: a powerful blend of AI innovation and community collaboration. This isn’t just another plan. This is a vision—crafted with tools of the future and grounded in the voices of our members.
🤖 Meet Our AI Co-Pilots
We’re embracing cutting-edge generative AI tools to assist in our planning process. Using ChatGPT Team and the Boodlebox platform—which gives us access to top-tier models like GPT-4o, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Perplexity, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and LLaMA 3.3 —we’re exploring strategic ideas from every angle.
Learning from Our Past to Shape What’s Next
To begin, we consolidated the LIT-SIS Strategic Plans from 2001 to 2024 into one master document. This collection serves as our historical compass, helping us identify recurring themes, mission-driven goals, and evolving priorities. Interested in doing your own AI-assisted deep dive? We’ll be posting this document to the LIT-SIS Communities, so stay tuned!
✍️ The AI Prompting Begins
Our first step with AI was simple: “What are the common threads across our strategic plans?” From there, we asked each LLM to generate a new draft plan inspired by those themes. The results were fascinating—some bold, some traditional—but all revealed the same truth: even the smartest AI still needs human touch.
